Acer Aspire One Happy2 Netbook (ep.5)

Great little machine – Do not buy a RAM upgrade

This is a great little machine. The processor is very fast, Atom N570 is a dual core with hyperthreading. It appears that 4 cores to Windows 7. The hard drive is 250GB, which is huge for a machine of this kind. The computer comes with Windows 7 Starter and installed Microsoft Office and. You need a product key to use office software and instructions are very clear about how you can purchase a license key or using an existing key. Batter charges quickly and lasts a long time. We easily get 4 hours with the battery. It comes with 1 GB of RAM so we bought a 2 GB memory card with the intention of upgrading.
To install the RAM, you must remove the keyboard to access the five screws holding the bottom cover. The process of removal is not documented, but is easier than it sounds. A good youtube video shows you how. To remove the keyboard, you need a small screwdriver. Start near the Delete key or the ESC key and simply pop the keyboard in place. The tabs that hold up a spring mechanism to push the tab back, get the screwdriver under the keyboard and pop-up. 2 GB of RAM makes a world of difference!
Expect the usual 2 to 3 hours to download all updates for Microsoft Windows and AV software up to date. We use the device with Microsoft Office Professional, Firefox and more. It’s ideal for a college student who requires both the portability and power.
The hardrive is very quiet but this is not the fastest drive on the market. At 250, it is more space than we intend to use with this little computer.
We also booted with Ubuntu 11 and it worked perfectly. The 1 GB of RAM is more than enough for Linux. Ubuntu had drivers for the wireless network, sound, keyboard and screen. We do not need to manually install the drivers at all.

Cute, sturdy and just perfect for our needs

My 12 year old daughter needed a netbook for school as his was lost. We searched and searched to find one that was a good price but also a trusted brand and we met. That’s when we stumbled upon the Acer Aspire One happy2. The fun colors that attracted him, but the details that attracted me.
“It is about 10x10x1, so it is small but not too small. Perfect size for its BackBack.
-The speed of the Intel 1.66 is fast enough for what to do (writing articles, playing some online games)
The graph is RAM-64 Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150, when he had no latency Minecraft Thurs:)
-The hard drive is 250 GB, so much for a child or for someone who wants to take a tiny laptop on vacation to upload photos.
-We found the battery will last about 4-5 hours before needing to charge again.

We are pleased with our happy and had no problems at all things fall into place, the drivers installed, etc. Thank Acer to release a quality product that anyone can afford!

Acer Aspire One AO522 Netbook (ep.5)

Good for the money

I bought this little netbook knowing what to expect, as a previous owner of a Dell Mini 9 and as a current owner of a MacBook Pro, I was looking for something cheap with good battery life and not very powerful.
The Good:
The battery life really had about 5-6 hours while web browsing, and working offline
HDMI out is great, put it out of the 50 “TV without problems, even the audio stream through
Fast enough for small tasks
The keyboard of 93% seems much larger than most netbooks, I tried in the past
The dedicated video card, you will not find many netbooks that have this
Higher resolution screen, as something you will not see on many netbooks, most are 600 pixels high, it is 768, quite a difference
The Bad:
The keyboard of 93% while most even bigger is always a bit tight for me, but I’m a big guy
The 1GHz processor shows a little at a time
Even with the 1GHz dual core and video card Netflix and Hulu had their problems. I tried both streaming via HDMI and there was a bit of stuttering, especially since Hulu on Netflix, which can be blamed on Netflix and MS Silverlight more than anything because it lacks the hardware decoding, 5 we hope Silverlight will resolve this problem immediately
Windows 7 Starter, really!
The multitouch any kind does not much, especially when compared to the MacBook, two-finger scrolling works a bit but mine always jumped off the page a lot the first time you scroll with two fingers. In addition, the touch area of the touchpad is not 100%, having a functionality of the valve area and vertical and horizontal scroll bars only works well when you can actually press the corners and sides. The 01/08 to 01/04 surrounding “my touchpad is not sensitive to almost all the way around. It is very difficult to use the touch functionality added.
Overall:
I was quite impressed with the little beast But in the end I returned and went with the Acer Aspire One AO722. Added the 1.2 “screen size means that the keyboard is bigger and it came with better specifications. More RAM, bigger HD, better version of Windows (Home Basic) and a better touchpad the same price. He still has some of the same issues with lag processor and Netflix, but the whole of his great movement on and around the home computing in general. AO522 is great if you agree with the small keyboard and maybe you’ll have more luck with your touchpad, but really for the money, if you do ‘t need the 10 “screen just get the AO722.
